Applications for the school year 2025-2026: September 1-30, 2025
Below is the Education Fee Grant Guidelines:
Introduction
The Education Fee Grants provided by the Wesley Zaidan in Japan, aims to support undergraduate students enrolled in degree programs across Asia and the Pacific. Grants are awarded to institutions that are partners of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, based on their nomination and recommendation of students with demonstrated financial need.
1. Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of application
- Be currently in or entering the 2nd year or higher of an undergraduate degree program at a higher education institution that is a partner of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia
- Be enrolled at a university/college located in a developing country in Asia or the Pacific, with a GDP per capita below USD 5,000
- Hold citizenship of a developing country in Asia or the Pacific, with a GDP per capita below USD 5,000
- Be able to demonstrate financial and/or social need
- Have maintained a GPA equivalent to “B” or higher in the previous academic year
- Preference will be given to Protestant or Catholic Christian students
- Must be nominated and recommended by the institution
Note:
Direct applications from students will not be accepted.
2. Grant Details
- Duration: Up to 1 year (This refers to one standard academic year based on the institution’s calendar)
- Amount: Up to USD 2,000 per recipient (tuition fees only)
- Disbursement: Funds will be transferred directly to the recipient’s institution
Note:
The grant amount will be determined based on the requested amount stated in the application form, supported by official documentation of tuition/program fees provided by the institution.
No amount beyond the requested figure will be approved.
3. Application Process
- Application period: September 1– 30, 2025
- Nomination Limit per Institution:
Each institution may nominate up to 2 students
Required Documents:
- Application form
– Must include a recent photo
– All fields must be typed
– The second page of the form is designated for the Personal Essay (500–700 words)
– Submit both Excel and PDF versions - Official academic transcript for the previous academic year
- Recommendation letter from the president of the institution
- Official documentation of tuition/program fees
*The institution must verify that the amount requested on the application form matches the fees listed in the official documentation and provide additional explanations if necessary.
Note:
Application templates will be shared only with partner institutions through the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia.

4. Selecting Process
All applications will be carefully reviewed by the Wesley Zaidan Grant Selection Committee through the following steps:
- Document screening
- Online Interview (via Zoom)
- Final selection and notification by the end of November 2025
5. Recipient Responsibilities
- Recipients are required to submit a written report upon completion of the grant period
- Any changes in enrollment status or program details must be reported to Wesley Zaidan immediately.
Note:
The grant may be revoked or repayment required in cases of false information, misuse of funds, or other violations, as determined by Wesley Zaidan.
