Special Activity Grants for COVID-19 pandemic assistance: Introducing the work of beneficiaries

We would like to introduce the activities of Empowerment Kanagawa, one of the beneficiaries of Special Activity Grants for COVID-19 pandemic assistance provided in 2020. (Empowerment Kanagawa’s website: https://npo-ek.org/)

Empowerment Kanagawa offers workshops to prevent violence against children such as bullying, abuse and sexual violence. In the spring and summer of last year, temporary school closing and stay-at-home advisories were issued due to the spread of COVID-19, which led to growing concerns over the increase of domestic violence and abuse at isolated homes. For the purpose of provision of mental care for children and their guardians, and prevention of abuse, the organization offered counseling to children through LINE and online counseling to guardians.

Wesley Foundation provided the grant to cover part of the cost necessary to conduct their activities. Counseling for children through LINE and online counseling for guardians still continue to be offered.
