Centennial Celebration of Korea UMC Foundations
On June 30, 2025, Centennial Celebration of Korea UMC Foundations was held at Lee Sam Bong Hall at Ewha Womans University to honor the 100th anniversary of the Korea United Methodist Church Foundations. Wesley Zaidan Representative Director Kokai attended the event.
The commemoration highlighted the century-long legacy of three foundations (American Methodist Korean Women’s Mission Foundation, the United Methodist World Mission-Korea Foundation, the Southern Methodist Church in Korea Foundation) that significantly shaped Methodist mission in Korea.
The three foundations have played a vital role in establishing more than 400 churches, schools, hospitals, and social service centers across Korea.
The board chair of Scranton Women’s Leadership Center, Jung-Hae Park, emphasized, “The past century has been a noble journey shaped by God’s providence and grace, along with the dedication of missionaries and Korean leaders.” She reaffirmed that the mission of the American Methodist Korean Women’s Mission Foundation is to faithfully pass on this legacy of faith to the next generation.
During the celebration, the youth performed heartfelt praise and dances. After the event, all in attendance shared in fellowship over a catered dinner.
The 100th anniversary was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the history and legacy of mission work in Korea and to reaffirm a renewed commitment to future missionary endeavors.
